Felt Styles
Our felt (Burgundy shown) is real casino speed cloth. It has a soft brushed nap that feels plush and rich. The felt style tops have a black vinyl backing as you can see in the pictures. Our Felt tops are designed with a heavy vinyl backing and hinge for durability. Very thick and durable, it can be flipped over and used with a table cloth for extra holiday seating.


Vinyl Styles
Our Vinyl (Cranberry shown) is Upholstery grade leather grain vinyl, very thick and durable. Take a close look at the pictures and see the fine leather graining. Also notice how out cup holders fit perfectly to the surface. Thats because they are permanently bonded to the backer board. The back surface is brushed polyester to protect whatever table it goes on.

The Core Material makes all the difference!

These tops are made from multiple layers of Precision engineered felt, not particle board or plywood. This interior felt is milled to stringent quality specs for thickness and moisture content.

More layers means a stronger lamination, a straighter surface and resistance to warping! Never a void, never a knot, always perfectly straight!

Dozens upon Dozens of layers of felt are laid down and glued together under pressure to make an extremely rigid top that will resist warping for years to come.

P olyvinyl "white" glues are used rather than animal glues or staples to hold the Tops together.

Polyvinyl glues stay flexible rather than turning brittle as other glues do, without the offensive odor of common animal glues. This give the tops uniform thickness and eliminates many of the odors other tops acquire.

With a .547" core thickness and .710" overall thickness, we are substantially thicker and more durable than the imports.

NOTE:

People ask exactly how rigid it is, and if the top will tip or break on the edge.

I have the top overhanging the bottom table by 12" in this picture. The equivalent of putting the 58" top on a 24" table.

That's a full gallon bottle of water on the edge!

The rest of the top has nothing on it at all and is not being held down in any way.

Do you know what's in theirs ?

Thin four layer plywood is inside the top I bought for comparison. Not furniture grade plywood either, it had knots and voids like most plywood.

Four layers is just not enough to resist warping or repeated use. Would you glue felt to plywood and call it a table ?? I don't think you would be reading this if you would!

The plywood core is also a full 20% thinner than they advertised, and 26% thinner than my core!

The overall thickness of the entire top is thinner than just my core. That makes my top a full 25% thicker!

The Cheap Import Comparison

You can almost see through the felt! This is not casino grade...

Four layered Plywood core

I went and bought one of the cheap imports to see what they are really made of. I bought something that advertised as being the latest model.

The first thing I noticed is one of the spring loaded trays was broken right out of the box, and there where globs of glue on the top surface that they just silk screened over.

I found it hard to open the top without one or more chip trays falling out. They are held in by two spring loaded pins.

The overall thickness of the entire top is thinner than just my core. That makes my top a full 25% thicker!
